the silence has been broken....

I just realised a few moments ago that it has been a very long time since I posted anything on my xanga. I feel bad. So I thought that I would change that. Life in Charleston is good. School is going well, I like my job, I'm learning some very cool stuff and I have some good friends. The only thing I don't like is that the base is kinda in the middle of a swamp and so it is very humid all the time and there are about 7 billion mosquitos around. I went for a walk the other night with a friend and I was wearing a skirt and the next day I had 23 bug bites on my legs. It is very painful. But other than that, stuff is good. I miss lancaster, though. I can come home on Aug. 31, and I would love to see all my friends. If you want to do something, let me know. Anyways, it's a brief update, I'm sorry. Life here is very busy. Hopefully I will be able to write more soon. Let me know how you all are doing.

The End and the Next Beginning

Well friends, contrary to popular belief (mine too), I, Meredith LaSala, made it through boot camp, and in the right amount of time, too.  It wasn't easy, and it wasn't really fun, either, but I did it and it's done and I'm a sailor now and on Wednesday I leave for Charleston for school.  I'm so excited.  And I'm so glad boot camp is done.  It was lousy.

Mom and Dad and the girls came out for graduation, which was yesterday.  The ceremony was so much fun.  Not like, come in, relax, have a good time fun, (it is the military, people) but it was the coolest feeling to walk into that drill hall and know that everyone is applauding for you because you accomplished something amazing.  And I got to spend two fabulous days with my family.  They just left to go home, which is really sad, but I'll see mom and Morgy in July (maybe for my birthday :) ) and I will probably get to go home to lancy-lanc towards the beginning of September.  So that's cool.  That's also pretty much all.  I'm really tired.  I think I'll go see if I can find some coffee......

The Beginning....

Well pals, today's the day. I'm off for boot camp. You probably won't hear from me for a while. 8 weeks or so to be exact. However, I'd love to hear from you. My mom will have my address in about a week. Feel free to write to me. (letters only; they frown on pictures and baked goods. drat) at any rate, I love you all and I will talk to you in a few weeks. Farewell.
